Creator of organic jewellery, I have been reflecting for some years on the definition of the jewellery, its meaning, usage and possible transformations. These pieces of jewellery have been created by hand, with an original assembly technique using textiles. This enables them to retain their life force, through respect for the material and the spirit within. The technique used is reversible, which allows the jewellery’s elements to continue to exist after having been worn. The promise of a second life is contained within this jewellery.
Consequently, it is the apparent fragility of these necklaces which is their strength. The complete paradox is there: if one wants to create something long term, one has to make objects that do not last. Thus, the idea is to create objects which are adaptable, recyclable, biodegradable and even perishable, and which change without producing waste in the true sense of the word, in the image of the way nature works.
Why create a piece of jewellery that will last forever when our lives, our needs, our desires change constantly? In this spirit, the jewellery becomes truly long-lasting from the moment it is capable of changing to become something else.
