It is a story of nails. The tiniest nails. Carpenters’ nails forged a long time ago. After many decades of good and loyal service, they were just thrown out overnight because they were deemed useless after building renovations.
This sad story reminded me of close friends who, from one day to the next, were left without a professional future, laid off after decades of working in the same firm because of a sudden management change.
Instead of letting these nails be thrown out with construction waste, I picked them up, took them in, and welcomed them. I gave them a second chance and a new life.
